For the second time Mastervolt is a proud race supplier to the prestigious Volvo Ocean Race. As in the 2014-2015 edition the participating boats are equipped with a brand new, cutting-edge Mastervolt Power System. Nick is Mastervolt’s Marine Sales Manager for the UK. He has been sailing competitively, and his initial involvement through Mastervolt started with Abu Dhabi Offshore Racing Team during the 2011-12 edition. Nick’s responsibilities range from running the commercial aspect of the account, liaison with the race teams, commissioning, training and sea trials.
Making sure every crew takes of with an electrical system in absolute flawless condition, Michèl already was present in The Boatyard in Alicante counting down to the starting date on October 22. In his role as Technical Support Engineer his next stop might be Cape Town when the boats come in from Lisbon (leg 2).
Gloria studied electro/mechanical engineering and she has a thing with racing. She participated in a NASCAR-racing team and joined a.o. the Heineken crew in the 93-94 Whitbread Round the World, the predecessor of the Volvo Ocean Race. She also worked with team EF in the 96-97 edition. Gloria will be present at the stopovers in Brazil and Newport. Her favorite product? “The new MLI Ultra Series batteries are awesome!”
Kiel is a Mastervolt (Power Products) Application Engineer for the Asia Pacific region. He will be present at the Hong Kong and Auckland stopovers providing service checks of the Mastervolt and CZone system. His favorite product within the electrical system? The Mastervolt Lithium Ion batteries: “They are the best in their field in my opinion – when power is needed, they are always ready to provide!”
Dennis is supervising and coordinating the M-Team and all Volvo Ocean Race-related technical issues in his role as Mastervolt’s Technical Sales Manager EMEA. He has already noted Gothenburg (leg 8 Cardiff to Gothenburg) in his 2018-agenda and probably will visit another stopover.
Barry participates in the M-Team as Technical Account Manager EMEA. He emphasizes that the M-Team is a group of technical generalists who share a deep insight in all products and in MasterBus and CZone® digital switching. He’s not sure yet which stop-over will appear in his agenda, it might be Cape Town.
When the fleet arrives in Lisbon after leg 1, you will find David on the quay. He is one of the guys of Mastervolt’s Technical Support department and he will help out every crew with whatever technical and power-related problem they might have. Since the Mastervolt-system works flawless sofar, David might get a lot of free time to discover Lisbon…
